Hi! My name is Kimberly Stewart and I am happy you are here!
Who am I and how can I help you?
My credentials are below, but here is who I am: I am a shepherd, a guide, I dwell in the realm of possibility, I am a creative whiz who synergizes all different kinds of information and ideas, I am catalyst, a spark, a spark plug. Someone asked me how I do this- and it was almost tough to answer, because, in some way, I’ve just always done this. I am a curious little sponge taking in all kinds of neat things around me. I read a lot, I watch a lot of TV and movies, I like listening to people and investigating…all kinds of things. One thing that has always piqued my interest, since I was little kid, is how to make money. I was never really interested in jobs, per se, because I never met anyone who liked theirs.
But I have been endlessly fascinated by all the weird ways that people bring in dollars. It can be a little or a lot, I’ve been impressed by both. I’ve never really been impressed by claims of the mythical “6-Figure income” because that, in and of itself, didn’t mean anything. But If someone was excited by what they were doing to get it, or by what they got out of it- well I’m then I was jazzed up too. I’ve seen “little” projects or income streams that don’t make a ton of money but it makes someone light up by being able to do it.
There is a conversation/judgement I encounter that there is supposed to be something wrong with making money from your art. And, while agree that you shouldn’t create art *just* to make money, or feel like you have to “sell out” or change your art to make money with it, there is nothing. At. All. Inherently *wrong* with making money with your creative works. That kind of attitude is almost as bad as “You’ll never make a living as an artist!” Well, no one said you had to, but that is no reason to not make art.
I have trained myself to seek out different ways people are making money and I am never disappointed to find things that just make step back and say, “Wow. You get paid to do WHAT now?” Life is supposed to be fun. Making money does not have to equal drudgery. You don’t have to hate your job or your boss, you could have a totally solid job you love. But you should always have some form of income that feeds your soul that you are in control over. Because as we’ve seen the past few years, things change. Big time. And fast. You might lose your job through no fault of your own. Your industry might change irrevocably overnight. You might decide that enough is enough and you are not going to take low wages and poor treatment anymore. But you will want to have something in place that is yours.
The cool thing is that not enough people are talking about is that when you have created something once, you can create again and again. Even if you lose everything, you will always know that you have the power to take care of yourself and not have to rely on outward forces the same way ever again.
I am an opportunity detective. An opportunity analyst. An opportunity catalyst. I help you look through those lists of “10 Side Hustles to earn an extra $1000 a month” and figure out how to adapt them for you, rather than you having to make a face, grimace, and grin and bear it while you shoehorn yourself into yet another situation that doesn’t feel right, but you think you have to because that’s all there is, right?
What is it that I actually offer? Inspiration. Ideas. Hope. Resources. Freedom. I shine light on what the next steps are. I grant permission. Freedom. Energy. A path. Introductions. A place to be you. Things to think about or consider.
I am not a coach. I am a change catalyst.
I manage and hold a subversive container of rebellion against the status quo. I love to get specific and niche down in some areas- mostly places that personally interest me. My expertise is in finding and identifying cool ideas and synthesizing seemingly disparate pieces together to create something entirely new and unique.
My big promise is new perspective, and hope, and permission. The results are an opened perspective of what’s possible and a clear strategy of how to proceed.
I’m a “how-to” person:
How to find ideas and create opportunities:
How to track down the resources you need.
How to learn to think creatively and divergently.
How to ask better questions.
How to ask for help in a way that feels good.
How receive help that is offered.
How to get around obstacles of all kinds- internal and external. I am most helpful to people who are new to making money without a job, or those what started something small and have gotten stuck.
I strike a chord with those who don’t fit in.
In 2003, while I was getting my degree in Psychology and Visual Art at Naropa University, I became a Success Team Leader – that is a creation by my friend and mentor Barbara Sher. She is the author of a couple of books, “Wishcraft”, “I Could Do Anything If Only I Knew What It Was”, “It’s Only Too Late If You Don’t Start Now: How To Start Your Second Life At Any Age”, and “Refuse to Choose”. As a Success Team Leader, I get together with small groups of people for two months and they each identify a goal. Structure and accountability are provided in going after that goal, and it’s a lot of fun.
In 2009, I studied with Dr. Valerie Young and became a Changing Course® consultant and that’s very similar to what I do as a Success Team Leader, only I work with people one-on-one and I love doing that as well.
I’ve also been mentored by Barbara Winter, the author of “Making a Living Without a Job,” which is a fantastic book – I can’t recommend it highly enough and she’s really helped me become who I am today in doing what I do.
